A SHORT HISTORY
OF WHY
S.A.F.E.ID4FAMILIES
An incident occurred with my mother, an Alzheimer’s patient that demanded I seek out assistance for a wandering parent under my care. To my amazement, other programs are in place, but none dealing with the quick recovery of either a senior adult or child who quietly wanders from sight and possibly exits a home, mall or store.
In relating the incident to family and friends, I found myself dealing with my own panic, emotional stress and unpreparedness.
Determined to find a solution, I interviewed law enforcement officers and discovered these incidents were not exclusive to Alzheimer’s patients but the elderly, children, mentally challenged and persons in outings. Many of these cases could be quickly resolved with the right materials for quick action and recovery.
After careful consideration and research, I decided to create and develop S.A.F.E.ID4FAMILIES.
